Free tickets are now available for KCBI’s Summer of Service Concert featuring The Afters this Saturday, Aug. 27. The event will take place at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church at 5:00 p.m. in collaboration with Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls®. Attendees are encouraged to bring a new pair of shoes as a donation for a child in need to wrap up the annual DFW Community Shoe Drive.

Dallas-natives The Afters are a Christian pop rock band founded in 1999. They have released six studio albums among many singles including their most recent release, "Say Goodbye (Say Hello),” according to a Wikipedia page.

“It is so exciting to have The Afters as a part of this year’s event,” said Shawn Spurrier, director of Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls. “The concert is a great way to engage the community and bring people together to serve vulnerable children through the gift of shoes, celebrate the work done through KCBI’s Summer of Service and enjoy some great music.”

During the month of August, KCBI is collaborating with Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls to collect new shoes for vulnerable children and families both internationally and domestically. The shoes collected during the drive will be distributed across Buckner International programs such as Family Hope Centers, Buckner Family Pathways, foster care and adoption services. The free concert is the final donation opportunity for the community shoe drive.
