It’s almost time to peruse the clothing racks and pluck out the good deals at the Dress for Success Palm Beaches annual Shop for Success Pop-Up Sale returning to The Square in downtown West Palm Beach for the second year.

The secondhand-shopping event will set up shop earlier this season in a donated storefront near Sloan’s and UNTUCKit from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 featuring gently worn clothing, shoes and accessories from couture labels and other name brands such as Eileen Fisher, Kate Spade, Lilly Pulitzer, Tahari and Theory, among others, organizers say.

A $50 ticketed VIP Preview Reception will let shoppers snap up the fashionable finds first from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 29, the night before the sale’s opening. Drinks and light refreshments will be available. Registration is available online only at bit.ly/S4SVIP22.

Here’s what organizers are teasing as the best deals this year in the couture boutique: a nearly new Armani dress for $50, a pre-owned St. John suit for $75 and barely worn Ferragamo shoes for $35.

But for most items, the prices are: $10 for dresses and handbags, $5 for tops, pants and skirts, and shoes, which are $10, are buy one, get one. Jewelry, belts and scarves will also be for sale.

“Closet cleaning during the pandemic has brought a windfall of amazing castoffs to our doorstep,” Rhonda Russell, Shop for Success volunteer co-chairwoman, said in a statement. “Some items are gently worn, some still have original price tags. All were generously donated to Dress for Success but don’t quite fit our criteria for the workplace attire that we dress our job-seeking clients in at no cost.”

And that’s where the shoppers come in. When they make a purchase during Shop for Success, they will help fund the Palm Springs-based nonprofit organization’s efforts to “empower women to achieve economic independence by providing not only head-to-toe workplace wardrobing but also courses and coaching to build self-esteem and job readiness.”

The goal is to raise at least 25% of its annual job-readiness programming funds, according to organizers.

Along with a team of 100 volunteers, storefront space is provided by the Related Companies and Good Greek Moving & Storage transports the merchandise for free.

Pop-up store hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
