Runner's love this IYKYK device.

IF YOU CAN think different and go beyond using an Apple Watch for running, you can sometimes find a runner's watch much more customized to your preferred liking. Take for example a brand like Garmin, they offer a wide array of different smartwatch models that cater to everyone from hikers and trail runners, to triathlon junkies and pavement pounders.

One watch from Garmin in particular that has garnered high praise from the running community is the Forerunner 245. Loaded with marathon-level battery life (7 days in smartwatch mode, 6 hours in GPS mode) and designed with a strong, lightweight case (38.5 g total weight), this watch has gotten several runners to jump ship from their former devices. There is one common qualm about the watch; the price point, however that won't be a problem today. The Forerunner 245 just went on sale for a whopping $139 off (40% off) on Amazon, making the watch it's lowest price ever on the site according to CamelCamelCamel.

It's worth noting the Forerunner 245 doesn't have a touch screen, but the 1.2" display and large side buttons make it easy to switch and toggle between widgets. As far as tracking metrics go, the Forerunner 245 measures your running pace, distance, heart rate, and steps. (The tech will even provide move notifications and graph your stress levels (via the stress level widget.) In the pool, the device will measure stroke type and count, calories burned, and distance. And perhaps the best feature about the Forerunner 245 is you can leave your smartphone at home and listen to music from the watch via bluetooth. In fact, you can download up to 500 songs from your Spotify account for listening!
