It’s safe to say that the last few years have been tough on everyone — especially mums.

Not only have they had to go through (too many to count) lockdowns, but they’ve also had to juggle working from home with household chores and helping their children with remote learning.

Now as we emerge out of the pandemic, our mums deserve a treat and there’s no better day to spoil her than Mother’s Day.

To work out how best to treat mum, Best Of has gone straight to the experts: Mums.

Australia’s number one parenting site Kidspot has collated responses from mums around Australia on how they best want to be spoiled this Mother’s Day.

While some common requests included getting to sleep in and not have children pull funny faces in family photos, we’ve also rounded up some recommendations based on the most popular responses, as well as including some of news.com.au’s best-selling products.

Of course, it is important to remember that if you can’t afford a gift this year, the most memorable Mother’s Day gifts can be free also: Think a handmade card, voucher book or even just breakfast in bed.

WHEN IS MOTHER’S DAY THIS YEAR?

In 2022 Mother’s Day will fall on Sunday, May 8. In Australia and the United States Mother’s Day always falls on the second Sunday of May.

But in countries like the United Kingdom, Mother’s Day was already celebrated this year on Sunday, March 27.

This is because the UK celebration of mums follows Christian traditions that date back to the middle ages.

“Mothering Sunday” takes place on the fourth Sunday of Lent and was traditionally when servants who had left their families for domestic work were allowed to return home for the day and see their loved ones, the Evening Standard reports.
