We've all been feeling the heat, but your furry friend has been feeling it even more. With their whole body covered in fur and the inability to sweat, dogs have a harder time cooling themselves off in hot weather. If it's already hard for them to cool down outside in hot temperatures, think about how much harder that would be in a hot car.

In just 10 minutes, a car's internal temperature can jump nearly 20 degrees. With our forecasted high temperature for today being 90 degrees, that would make your car reach almost 110 degrees  during the hottest part of the day.

Some signs of heat stroke in dogs to look out for today are high body temperatures, fast heart rate, and heavy panting and drooling. If things become serious, your pet may also experience vomiting. If you think your dog may be experiencing a heat stroke, get them to a cool spot as soon as possible, use cool water on their ears, paw pads, and abdomen, and bring them to a vet once they're more stable.

To keep your pup safe today, consider leaving them at home when you go to run errands to avoid the possibility of them being left in a hot car.

With more sunshine and hot weather today, a park just like this one may seem like a nice place to go with the kids - but you'll need to take a few extra precautions to stay safe today.

Remember that burning feeling of a hot metal slide on a sunny summer day when you were a kid? Well, those slides can actually cause burns. Even the plastic ones can do some damage, especially if they are a darker color or in full sun.

Some different things you'd see at the playground that are most likely to cause burns would be metal equipment, swings or any other equipment your child would sit on, and asphalt. The next couple days will be hot as well, so keep this in mind as we finish out the week.

Make sure to keep an eye on your kids at the park today, try to avoid playground equipment made of metal or in the sun, and bring some water to stay hydrated.
