As a born-and-raised New Yorker, I’ve learned a thing or two about how to comfortably walk everywhere I go — especially when it comes to shoes. After 27 years of practice, I had all but banished long-distance walks while wearing sandals. Then, I realized that the perfect pair of walking sandals were already hiding in my closet.

Planning on just going for a quick stroll with my boyfriend, I slipped on my pair of rubber Birkenstock Arizona EVA sandals and ended up walking over 5 miles through Manhattan. You can believe me or not, but I seriously did not feel a thing thanks to my shoes. There were no rickety ankles, no painful arches, no blisters and no stopping to rest our feet. There was only iced coffee and vibes. Magic, right?

To say I am obsessed with these shoes is an understatement. I even bought them in two more colors because they’re that perfect. You can snag a pair for yourself at Nordstrom, DSW and Zappos.

A key thing for me with these shoes is that they’re incredibly lightweight yet super supportive. They make walking feel like you’re floating on clouds, which is great, whether you’re running across the street to CVS or spending all day in an amusement park.

Birkenstock is famously known for making high-quality and comfortable footwear — but its classic leather sandals can run you way over $100. These rubber Birkenstock sandals are only a fraction of the price and feature the same contoured footbed that makes a sandal a Birkenstock.

Because these guys are waterproof, you can wear them on rainy days, to the beach, while wading through grass or to help you dodge mysteriously murky puddles on city sidewalks. Personally, I can attest to how good they are at dodging said puddles of city juice. *shudders*

Thanks to the clutch price point, I have no qualms about buying them in every color. Speaking of every color, they literally come in every color. From your standard black and white to metallic shades and pinks and rainbow patterns, the outfit options are endless. Seriously, I’m this close to writing a book of sonnets about how much I adore these shoes.
