In a recent Q&A session with the HotHardware community, Intel Fellow Tom Petersen revealed a few new details about the top-of-the-line Arc A770 desktop GPU. Unfortunately, the release date was not even hinted at, but Petersen did provide some interesting overclocking tidbits.

The default core clock of the A770 model is set to 2.1 GHz as presented in Intel’s latest Arc slides, yet Petersen specified that it is easy to push the frequencies up to 2.7 GHz on air, possibly even beyond with some AIB partner custom models. The 2.7 GHz overclocking spec was tested in Hitman 3 and it ran stably.

Petersen also explained that the overclocked A770 sample was not cherry picked, but does not state if this is a Limited Edition with 16 GB of VRAM or a “regular” version with 8 GB. Surprisingly, the 2.7 GHz spec only required 3 more W over the default 225 W TPB, and the card was most likely undervolted, as well.

As pointed out by Videocardz, Intel updated their Arc product lineup to reflect the Limited Edition specs, and it appears that the LE A750 and A770 both have the same 225 W default TPB, despite the obvious core and memory differences. The rumored A310 and A350 models are nowhere to be found on the updated lineup.

The highly-awaited Arc desktop GPU availability details should be provided with the Raptor Lake reveal scheduled to happen at the Intel Innovation event on September 27.
