This spring Under Armour launched its second variation of the Flow Velociti Wind, which features many of the great technologies that were debuted in the first version of the shoe, but with some updated materials around the heel and upper to provide a more locked-in, comfortable ride.

One of the notable features in the second edition of the shoe is the tatami-stitched heel, which is designed to give you more support and comfort around your heel on each stride. This stitched heel is part of the upper, which also features a seamless design for runners to wear from start to finish without worrying about getting blisters or discomfort.

Type: Neutral Drop: 8 mm Stack height: 26 mm Weight: 236 g (men’s 9), 221 g (women’s 7) Available: Now Price: CAD 189.99

The Flow Velociti Wind 2 features a seamless WARP mesh, which optimizes containment with lightweight lockdown and allows maximum breathability.

The role of the WARP upper is to move in unison with your foot, supporting the foot in each stride to help performance by improving the efficiency during your run. While running in the WARP upper, you feel locked into the shoe, therefore it’s not getting in the way of your foot’s natural gait.

What’s new in the UA Flow Velociti Wind 2 shoes is the tatami-stitch heel: a premium solution that delivers a more consistent lockdown around the heel for added comfort and cushioning for high-mileage performance.

The UA Flow midsole was the name of the game in the original model, which they’ve continued into the second variation. Flow is a single piece of EVA foam that offers a lightweight but firm ride. This shoe has a lovely amount of rock and response to it, with each step feeling like you’re being propelled forward without changing your gait.

It’s easy to feel fast in this shoe, as the UA Flow midsole provides responsive & long-lasting cushioning on each stride.

One thing that makes the Flow Velociti 2 unique is the lack of blown rubber that’s traditionally found on the bottom of most running shoes. The traction on the shoe exceeded my expectations, as I was able to grip the road better on wet and dry surfaces and found it also performed well on loose gravel trails. The lack of a traditional outsole is what makes the shoe so remarkably light.

The Flow Velociti Wind 2 is a model all runners should consider if they are looking for something they can do a bit of everything in. If you’re the kind of runner who likes to have a rotation of shoes, you can lace these up on your tempo day or for intervals, as they have a lightweight responsive feel to help you feel fast. Overpronators, on the other hand, might do better with something that provides more medial support. The combination of comfort and traction makes this an ideal trainer for many runners. If you’re in the market for a new shoe this spring/summer, be sure to consider Under Amour’s Flow Velociti Wind 2.
